The Emergency Settlement Project is an international effort to bring together the people and organizations working in humanitarian assistance with communities disrupted by human-made, technological or natural disasters and emergencies. The goal of this project is to serve as a catalyst for gathering and documenting experiences into a consensus of principles, standards and best practices for emergency settlement. A collaborative network has been established to convert this information into practical and flexible learning materials for use worldwide.
This is part of the ongoing professional development program of the University of Wisconsin-Disaster Management Center (UW-DMC) to disseminate education and training on all aspects of disaster and emergency management, working with collaborating partners in Africa, Asia & Pacific, Australia, Central America, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South America.
